Crystals are used in affirmations for different Wheel of the year celebrations for their associated properties. Citrine is associate with Litha and sun energy. Malachite, the crystal of rebirth is used at Lammas. Aventurine is associated with Mabon for motivation, Amazonite with well being completion and Purple Fluorite with organization and for building up the immune system.

Litha, the Summer Solstice

Litha, the Summer Solstice (June 21st) is the longest day and is a time of preparation to the Autumn Solstice, Mabon, when the days grow shorter. The coals from the Bonfire of Mid Summer’s Eve are scattered on the growing fields to ensure a good harvest. Elderflower Champagne is made at this time. Elderflower is considered “the mother Queen of the Trees”. Goddessandgreenman has a recipe for this drink. Honey cake is another popular food at this time. Standing under an Elder tree at mid summers solstice is reputed to help one to see fairies. Litha Fire Essence combines protective and uplifting herbs. Citrine, the crystal of the Sun’s energy and personal empowerment and its ability to draw abundance is an appropriate crystal to use in Litha rituals. Affirmations for success in business, social success or fame are done at this time. Yellow beeswax candles are associated with commerce.

Lammas, First Harvest

Lammas (July 31st) is known as the first Harvest. This is a time to bring things to fruition or fulfilment. It is a time of rebirth and creativity. Malachite is the Egyptian crystal for rebirth, and Carnelian is the crystal for creativity. A corn dolly is placed over the heath until Spring. Take three stalks, lay before a red candle and think of things you are pleased with and things you want to complete, bind three stalks with red ribbon. Place this on your hearth until the next Lammas, when it is buried and this process is repeated.

Meadowsweet flowers are made into garlands and are a traditional herb for wedding circlets. These flowers are used in love tokens and are strewn around to promote peace. Mint is a protection herb and is known to draw abundance. Vervain is used to clear away negative energies and is steeped in water to be used for cleansing and purification.

Mabon (Autumn Equinox)

Mabon (September 21st) is the festival of the Autumn Equinox and is symbolized by the Cornucopia and is the time for bringing desired things to completion. The colours of Mabon are red, orange, yellow, brown and gold. Apples are the symbol of Mabon, of life and immortality. Apple Cake is a popular treat. Talking walks and planting bulbs are popular activities. Aventurine is a crystal for motivation and healing and Amazonite “the crystal of wellbeing” is helpful when things need to be completed. Purple Fluorite is also useful for organization and to build up the immune system for the coming winter.
